Safety Operating Procedures for Heat Treatment Furnaces
General Preparation:
1. Always check the gas pipeline valve for tightness before starting the furnace, ensuring the gas pressure meets the specified value.
2. Test the working conditions of the push rod, pull rod, and lifting mechanisms when the furnace body is empty.
Initial Setup:
3. Loosen the compression spring to the specified size range.
4.Adjust the water level in the water seal. Open the valve to discharge from the combustion pipe, then close it.
5. Close the feed-end furnace door. Open the discharge-end door to check, and close it once the kerosene spray forms a mist.
Lighting and Operation:
6. Light theburner in the feeding chamber.
7. Ensure the exhaust gas discharges through a valve that bypasses the water seal.
8. During intermittent production, prioritize carburizing the furnace tank.
Parts Placement and Handling:
9. Maintain a minimum 5mm distance between parts; they should not exceed the bottom plate’s length and specified height.
10. Quickly open and close the feed and discharge doors, while moving the push-pull rod steadily.
11. Position parts directly below the thermocouple in the pre-cooling chamber.
Furnace Loading and Shutdown:
12. Limit the furnace load to 24 chassis. Always pull before pushing when feeding.
13. When shutting down, equalize temperatures across furnace zones before natural cooling.
Equipment Cleaning and Maintenance:
14. Clean the furnace tank weekly during continuous production and immediately after shutdown for intermittent production.
14.1. Remove all chassis when cleaning at 850-870°C.
14.2. Use a compressed air nozzle for blowing in from the feed end, ensuring the valve is not opened too wide and moving back and forth to prevent overheating.
14.3. Clean the gas burner with kerosene before carburizing.
15. Return quenched chassis or fixtures to the pre-cooling room for oil removal.
Emergency Procedures and Precautions:
16. Address any sudden increase in furnace pressure or exhaust pipe blockages immediately, prioritizing safety valves.
17. Pay constant attention to combustion status and gas pressure.
17.1. Avoid standing in front of the furnace door during opening to prevent burn injuries.
17.2. Regularly check the burner and wedge door for leaks.
17.3. If a burner flame extinguishes, close the gas valve first, then the air valve.
17.4. Stop feeding and remove any fallen parts or if the wedge door switch fails.
